ABOUT THE AREA
Named for the Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop; this land founded in the 1830s is the father of Elgin, Clearview, Smithville, String Prairie, McDade, Paige and other communities served by the Bastrop, Elgin, McDade, Lexington, and Smithville independent school districts. When coming to this land, you may easily take the US Highway 290 and the State Highway 21 to arrive to Bastrop without a problem, or you may go via the State Highway 71, State Highway 95, and State Highway 304 as well.
