Elhart, Frankston, and Palestine are some of the communities of Anderson County served by the Cayuga, Elkhart, Frankston, Neches, Palestine, Slocum, and Westwood Independent School Districts. This territory of more than 1075 square miles of extension has made it through the top 60 list of the largest counties in Texas with a population density of more than 65 inhabitants per square mile. The economy of this territory needs attention from the local authorities in order to overcome the poverty striking the residents between 18 and 65 years old, increase the per capita income, and have a more stable median household income as well.
