ABOUT THE AREA
Named after a Hainai Native American who participated in assisting the Spanish missionaries, this territory is served by the city of Lufkin as its county seat; which is also the largest city in this land of more than 860 square miles of extension. Some of the communities in Angelina are Burke, Bald Hill, Cedar Grove, Herty, Marion, Peavy, Thomas Crossing, Dunagan, Moffitt, Dolan, and Shawnee which are just a few of the thirty-five pieces of this map constituted by mostly unincorporated cities served by the Angelina College and the Stephen F. Austin State University.
