ABOUT THE AREA
This wet county in the Lufkin Micropolitan Statistical Area shares frontiers with Tyler, Polk, Trinity, Houston, Nacogdoches, San Augustine, Jasper, and Cherokee Counties. White Non Hispanic, Latino, African American, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander, and other racial groups have made this land their home generating a population density of 40 inhabitants per square mile. Eight school independent districts are located in this community including part of the Wells Independent School District, Zavalla Independent School District, Hudson Independent School District, and part of the Colmesneil Independent School District.
