ABOUT THE AREA
The name of this territory established during the first half of the 19th century comes from a brave man who served his country during the Texas Revolution. Seven major highways communicate this land with its neighbors of Willacy County in the northern border, Hidalgo County in the western limit, and Matamoros, Mexico on its southern wing. When coming to this land, we strongly recommend you to visit the Oscar C. Dancy Courthouse in Brownsville which was recently restored. Some of the sons of this territory are Palm Valley, Harlingen, Bayview, Indian Lake, Primera, and Rancho Viejo.
