ABOUT THE AREA
Formerly the Town of Frederick, Kent is also known as Kent Lakes because it holds the many lakes which serve as reservoirs for NYC. Kent embodies the communities and hamlets of Allen Corners, Berkshire Terrace, Carmel Park Estates, Farmers Mills, Gypsy Trail, Lake Carmel, Kent Cliffs, Kent Corners, Kent Hills, Luddingtonville, Meads Corners, Richardsville,and Yale Corners. The major population center is Lake Carmel. Wonder Lake and Fahnestock State Parks are located in Kent. Kent is 60 miles from NYC and 25 miles from Danbury Connecticut. Sybil Ludington was the 16 yr old daughter of Col. Henry Ludington during the Revolution who continued where Paul Revere left off by riding 40 miles on a dark night to call up her father's militia to fight the British who were burning Danbury, CT just 25 miles away.
