Traditionally an agricultural land, Eagle Lake presents a very proactive economy which has opened its doors to new industries and investors from all over the country. Known as the "Goose Hunting Capital of the World", this municipality of a total extension of 2.7 square miles of extension is elevated more than 170 feet above sea level with a population density of close to 1345 people per square mile. The racial makeup in Eagle Lake is extensive including White Non Hispanic, Latino, African American, Native American, and other racial groups. Served by the Rice Consolidated Independent School District, this community is proud of their local newspaper the Eagle Lake Headlight and their special Continental Express Flight 2574.
