ABOUT THE AREA
"Vis Kill" as it was originally called by the Dutch, means "stream of abundant fish". (Kill is Dutch for creek or stream). The Van Wyck homestead, located in Fishkill is suspected to be the setting for James Fenimore Cooper's story, "The Spy".
