ABOUT THE AREA
Red Hook is derived from the Dutch word for peninsula, "hoeck" and the red fall foliage of the sumacs. The town of Red Hook contains the villages, hamlets and communities of Annandale (on the Hudson), Barrytown, Cokertown, College Park, Fraleighs, Kerleys Corners, Red Hook, Red Hook Mills, Tivoli and Upper Red Hook.
Red Hook in Dutchess County should not be confused with the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City.
