ABOUT THE AREA
The Village of Alfred is within the Town of Alfred. The area was called Kanakadea by the inhabitants who proceeded the Europeans (is that politically correct enough for you?). It's a hilly area in one of the poorest counties in the state - that's an open competition with a lot of struggling counties in upstate New York.
