ABOUT THE AREA
Named after General Sidney Sherman, this territory witness of the opening of the Southern Methodist University back in the early years of the 20 century when the rise and fallen of several educational homes took place in this territory, was founded back in the 1840s. Father of many notable men and women such as Edna Gladney, Frank James, Kay Kimbell, Buck Owens, William Durham, and Buddy Tate; this municipality is served by the US Highway 75, State Highway 11, State Highway 289, and US Highway 82.
