ABOUT THE AREA
The town name is derived from the Wappani (Wappinger) indians who had settled the area from Poughkeepsie to Manhattan along the east bank of the Hudson River. There's Wappingers Falls, Wappinger Lake, and a whole lotta Wappinger going on.
