ABOUT THE AREA
The Shakers once had a large settlement in New Lebanon. New Lebanon consists of the communities and hamlets of Lebanon Springs, New Britain, New Lebanon, New Lebanon Center, and West Lebanon. The north town line borders southern Rensselaer county and the east town line borders Berkshire County, MA. That would make this the northeast corner of the county, huh?
US Route 20 passes through town, and the NY State Police have a barracks in town, just off of Rte 20. For the Hot Rod enthusiast, Lebanon Valley Speedway is located in West Lebanon on Rte 20.
