When the town was first created lumber mills were the place to work. Today, farming is the main source of income basically cows for milk and beef. Also sheep for wool and meat. The population is small and the town is named after Madrid in Spain. Most people are looking for good farm land to raise their stock. Great town to visit if you are interested in farming. People are friendly but reserved to outsiders sometimes. People are trying to survive on about 1,000 dollars less than the national average for a family.
