Home of the "Indians", this town of more than 1900 inhabitants was mostly a ranching land back in the second half of the 19th century. Served by the zip code 77962, this community is connected with the neighboring cities thanks to the US Highway 59, State Highway 172, Loop 522, FM 710, and FM 1157. Attended by the Ganado Independent School District, this territory elevated 66 feet above sea level is the second largest town in Jackson County named after the Spanish term for "cattle".
