Lynwood is a johnny-come-lately having been incorporated in 1959, from a larger unincorporated area called Alderwood Manor. However; the population has grown to over 33,000 possibly because of the retail shopping available in the area. A two-year public college, Edmonds Community college, is located in the city; as well as the Lynwood branch of Central Washington University. The Lynnwood Recreation Center is a recreational facility for seniors, adults, teens and youth with its 25-Yard Short Course Indoor/Outdoor Swimming pool, Hydrotherapy pool and Sauna, Wading pool, Racquetball courts and Weight and Exercise room.

The court is only a short distance West of Interstate 5 and Southwest of the termination of Interstate 405 at IS 5 and surrounded by State Roads 99, 524 and 525.
