Carthage, New York is situated in Northern New York along the “Mighty Black River” with just about 10 miles from Fort Drum opening to the Adirondacks and just south of the Majestic St. Lawrence River. There are a host of events that take place throughout the year, notable among them is the Winterfest in 2006. The entry to the event is free, some of the events in Winterfest include the simulated mast helicopter rescue operation by the Carthage fire dept. Overall the Winterfest held annually is a recreation for the entire family. Not the same as the very close village of West Carthage. This one's in the town of Wilna, but West Carthage is in the Town of Champion.
