ABOUT THE AREA
La Fargeville is situated in the Watertown area in Jefferson County. The community was named after John Fredrick LaFarge, the landholder.
In the early days it was a cheese-making center until a huge fire destroyed much of the business district in 1898.
La Fargeville has many museums and historic sites. Of those the Northern New York Agricultural Historical Museum houses exhibits about - you guessed it - farming history.
Interstate 81 runs through the town.
