Fort Worden State Park and Conference Center is a 434-acre multi-use park. It is on the site of 19th century military fort and many historic buildings remain. The fort, along with the heavy batteries of other forts on Puget Sound once guarded the nautical entrance to the Sound. Sounds like a great place to visit and take the kids along. If you want to play a round or two you can visit the Port Townsend Golf club a regulation nine hole course. Old Fort Townsend State Park is camping park with 3,960 feet of saltwater shoreline on Port Townsend Bay. The park which consists of a little more than a third of the orginal Fort Townsend built in 1856 by the U.S. Army; welcomes many visitors from out of state.
