ABOUT THE AREA
Fonded in 1883 as a lake port for Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul and the Omaha Railroad, this community had a population of 9,000 at the time of WWI. With a decline of the industries, today the population is about 550. Located in northern Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay, this a a good place for fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming. Highway 13 runs through it.
