ABOUT THE AREA
The second largest city in Matagorda County known as the "Shrimp Capital of Texas" has an estimated population of 5000 inhabitants reporting German, English, Irish, American, French, and Czech ancestries. Elevated more than 10 feet above sea level, this municipality is served by four medical centers including Palacios Community Medical Center and Matagorda General Hospital.
