The county seat of Pecos has an estimated population of more than 7800 inhabitants residing in a total area of 5 square miles of extension. Fort Stockton city is elevated more than 2950 feet above sea level reporting a median household income of $27700 and a per capita income of $12800. Located on the Interstate 10, US Highway 67, and US Highway 385 is served by the Fort Stockton Independent School District. Former home of the Giddings family, this municipality is attended by four medical centers including Pecos County Memorial Hospital and Ward Memorial Hospital.
