ABOUT THE AREA
Pawley’s Island is like a barrier island for Myrtle Beach and is actually less than 4 miles in width. Rich rice planters found this strip of land in the sea to be a good place to build their homes. They could also stay away form the hustle and bustle of the city life. Today the homes of the rich and famous that were once popular have been converted into bed and breakfast places.
