This area is another part of historical Seneca county. The Jesuits settled here to convert the native people to Catholicism. Many refused and this led to establishment of the towns in the area. The settlers were able to control the area with the Jesuit missionaries. Establishment of this town started back in the 1700's. The town is near many waterways and many tourists come here in the summer to take in some fishing and boating. Also, many families come to camp and hike.
