ABOUT THE AREA
With a population of under 2000 and a land area covering about 1 1/2 square miles; Turner is small town. Its residents enjoy a reasonably good median family income in the low forty thousand range. Turner was originally occupied by the Santiam Kalapuya Indians. the first settlers arrived in the 1840's . It owes its existence to the construction of a rail station for the Oregon & California Railroad and the establishment of a flour mill and two granaries which were the significant industrial features in the area.
