ABOUT THE AREA

Home of the Ho-Chunk Nation (People of the Big Voice) who operate a casino and hotel. There are less than 4,000 people here but there are 2 newspapers. This is a popular place for deer hunting. The endangered Karner Blue butterfly is found here and a festival the second Saturday in July is held in its honor.
