ABOUT THE AREA
Taking its name from the First Nations word meaning "meeting of the waters", this town of Ontario is irrigated by Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers. Reporting an estimated population of 2300 inhabitants back in 2001, this community of less than 2 square miles of extension welcomed its first settlers the 17th century. If you happend to visit this land, we advice you to make some time in your agenda to check out the Mattawa District Museum, Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, Canadian Ecology Centre, and Algonquin Provincial Park.
