Known as "Great Sudbury" and "The Nickel City", this land elevated 1140 feet above sea level was originally named Sainte-Anne-des-Pins ("St. Anne of the Pines"). With a population density under 130 people per square mile, this community became the first city in Canada to install parking meters.
