ABOUT THE AREA
Situated in the southern wing of America, this land of extensive multicultural influences is divided in 64 parishes. Born in the 18th century, this community known by many as the Bayou State has a total area of less than 52000 square miles of extension. Named after Louis XIV (King of France), this charming land has many attractive and interesting places to visit such as Cane River National Heritage Area, National Wild and Scenic River, Kitsatchie National Forest, and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve.
