ABOUT THE AREA
If you are not heading to the North and South Manitou Islands then you should visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Though the National Park is huge by itself and has several entry points, the city of Leland is unique. The first Native American settlement here was called the Mish-Me-Go-Bing and whatever that meant. On route you will get to explore a lot of Native American History as well.
