The Wheeler County court is officially known as the Wheeler County Circuit Court.

If you want to hear some rousing, foot stomping music; visit Fossil in early July for the Wheeler County Bluegrass Festival which takes place on the lawn of the Wheeler County Courthouse. Included in the festivities are a Band Scramble, Grand Young Opry, a parade and a 5K run. There are also Art shows, crafts and concessions to enjoy. The Oregon Paleo Lands Institute, which is located across the street from the courthouse, features Interactive, hands-on exhibits which include information about how Oregon was built, Ancient life and ecosystems and Wheeler county and the John Day Basin.
