Named for early Bath settler Dugald Cameron, the town of Cameron is also the birthplace of William W. Averell, who patented asphalt pavement. The hills surrounding the hamlets of Cameron, Cameron Mills, North Cameron, South Cameron & West Cameron, part of the Canisteo River Valley, are well-known for deerhunting.
