Ridgedale County Court is a suburban division (Division III) of the Hennepin District Court and has jurisdiction over all non-felony traffic and criminal cases for Deephaven, Eden Prairie, Excelsior, Golden Valley, Greenwood, Hopkins, Independence, LMCD, Long Lake, Loretto, Maple Grove, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnetonka, Minnetonka Beach, Minnetrista, Mound, Orono, Plymouth, Shorewood, Spring Park, St. Bonifacius, Tonka Bay, Wayzata, Woodland. IS 394 (US Hway 12) and IS 494 go through and intersect in the center of town.

Minnetonka is surrounded by a group of lakes providing many fishing opportunities for residents and visitors alike. The largest of these are Parkers, Gleason, Medicine and Crane lakes. This is also a city of parks with the city maintaining five community parks and 44 neighborhood parks. Minnetonka provides more than lip service to the recreational needs of its citizens. The city provides 17 athletic fields, maintains 10 hockey and 10 pleasure skating rinks in the winter and 81 miles of trails. Judges are assigned to hear cases on criminal matters on a rotating schedule at the Suburban Divisions.
