ABOUT THE AREA
Follow Rte 17 to the community of Corning, an incorporated village by 1847, which merged with the village of Knoxville in 1890 to become the City of Corning, home of the Corning Glass Center - Museum of Glass, Hall of Science & Industry and the Steuben Glass Factory. Downtown Corning includes the Rockwell Museum - the largest collection of American Western Art and Steuben Glass in the East - and historically restored Market St. There just might be a company named Corning that has something to do with insulation, glass, the Pink Panther, gosh who knows what else. Maybe even fiber optics.
