What is Maryville today was first Fort Craig and even today the remains of the Fort is found in the Great Indian Warpath. Maryville is also at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains. So it is quite an attraction in spring and Summer time. The shadows of the Appalachians fall far and beyond the city. Pistol Creek is a small tribunal of the Little River. It flows through the Pearson Spring Park. The Park is a part of the Green Way stretch. Other than being wild and heavily wooded it also has two baseball diamonds and 2 Soccer fields. It is ideal for family outings and trekking.
