| About the area |
South Paris is a principal village of the city of Paris. Its population of about 2300, living in an area around 4 square miles in size, is probably not much different than when the city started in the early 19th century with mills powered by the waters of the Little Androscoggin River . The joining of the Norway Branch Railway with the main line of the Grand Trunk railway in South Paris probably contributed to expansion and diversity in the number of factories. Much of the Victorian architecture of this period in the city’s history still remains. For beauty and wonderful aroma visit The McLaughlin Garden during their 3 day Lilac Festival in late May. Of course the Garden is a great place to visit at any time in the Spring, Summer and Fall if you want to see any number of beautiful flowering shrubs and trees. |
