Wiscasset juts out into the beautiful Sheepscot river with two deep water moorings available to the public on its waterfront. While you are here you might want to visit the 1812 Jail. It was built just prior to 1812 and was a considered a step forward in the treatment of prisoners with its separate cells and windows. In the 1950’s, it was given to the Lincoln County Historic Association which maintains it as a museum and opens it for visits by the public in the summer. |
