| Comments | The DA generally negotiates only with lawyers. A busy court. Expect to be there for 2 hours on criminal matters. Attorneys will get out quicker, especially on traffic matters. Court staff are on top of things and helpful on the phone. |
| About the area | Bethlehem includes the hamlets of Glenmont and Delmar. A suburb of Albany, Bethlehem has one of the best public school systems in the area. Major highways include I-87 (The New York State Thruway), along with Route 9, Route 32, and Route 443. |
| Hours of Operation | Court clerks are available by phone 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Traffic Court appearances are 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Traffic trials are Monday evenings at 5:30 pm, plus 2nd & 4th Wednesdays at 8:00 a |
| Judges | Hon. Paul F. Dwyer and Hon. Ryan Donovan. Judge Dwyer is very experienced. Donovan is new but is both smart and fair, though he might be a stickler about some finer points. |
| Prosecutors | ADA Renee Merges prosecutes criminal matters. Effective 9/06, Town Attorneys Tom Newman and Andrew Kirby (both pleasant) are prosecuting traffic cases. The DA may start handling them in October. Recently Lavonda Collins has been handling Trooper tickets. All good prosecutors, reasonable to deal with, though you may not get the deal you're hoping for. |
| Type Of Cases | Speeding tickets, DWI, and other criminal matters. The Thruway generates a lot of speeding tickets for this court. |
