| About the area | Population of about 5000. It lies in the extreme western part of the county and is bounded on the north by Oswego and Granby, on the east by Granby, and on the south and west by Cayuga County. In the northwest corner of the town is a salt spring from which salt was formerly manufactured in limited quantities. The principal stream is Nine Mile Creek, which flows through the village of Hannibal; this and several brooks afford excellent drainage and some good mill privileges. Hannibal contains two churches, The Baptist Church of Hannibal and The Methodist Episcopal Church of Hannibal was originally a part of the Granby circuit. The Methodist Episcopal Church of South Hannibal was built in 1860. There might be more churches. |
