Comments The village website lacks much information. However, a class action suit against the villages of Belle Terre, Patchogue and Old Field regarding their traffic enforcement procedures and subsequent searches conducted by village constables. Belle Terre made a settlement, and those filing the suit had their Driving Records restored prior to their Belle Terre violations. For more info on this see www.villagepolicecases.com
About the area Belle Terre is on Port Jefferson Harbor in the town of Brookhaven on the island's north shore. It was developed with expectations of becoming a resort for the wealthy, which seems to bear truth since the average household income in the village is about $132k per year. As you approach Pt Jeff Harbor via the Bridgeport Ferry, you can see this elite community and their spectacular houses on your left.

Prosecutors Suffolk County DA and assistant DAs prosecute cases. Village Constable and Counsel may also prosecute violations.
Type Of Cases Mostly vehicle/traffic violations, and village code infractions. There are very little criminal cases within the village. At least some traffic violations will be in the Traffic Violations Bureau instead of this court.
