Comments	Nice court in a small town on a country road. Court staff and prosecutors are quite friendly, at least to the lawyers.
About the area	The Town of Amsterdam encircles the City of Amsterdam. The town stretches to the Schenectady County border to the east, and north to Fulton County. The town has a relatively vibrant economy, especially compared to the city.
Hours of Operation	Court is usually 7 pm Thursdays or 2pm Tuesdays, but call to confirm.

Prosecutors	Montgomery County District Attorney's office handles most cases, but Troopers will negotiate their own tickets if you show up. Attorneys can handle most matters by mail with the DA. John Clo is the Assistant DA for Amsterdam Town Court. He's a good guy, and the whole office staff has that "salt of the earth" nature.
Type Of Cases	Speeding tickets, especially on Route 5 and Route 30. Other matters including DWI and some misdemeanors.

2008-07-21 16:52:06: It would be nice for the court to have normal business hours of operation so as to accommodate folks who actually have to work.<br>[Site Editor's Note: Town courts in upstate NY have limited resources and they do their best.<br>This is particularly difficult in communities with limited resources like the Amsterdam area.<br>In our experience, Amsterdam Town Court is one of the best - they try to work with people.<br>There are plenty of courts that are much more difficult.]

2009-10-27 19:31:24: Mail a letter? This place has like one staffer, no answering machine, and two days a week (they're there like an hour!). Better off just showing up for court.
