Brighton started out as a part of Cambridge, Massachusetts in the 17th century. Over time it established itself as a popular business venue. As of late, however, the main street has been struggling to keep businesses open. But with a new main street renewal project some businesses have reopened or opened new restaurants, stores, and places for the needs of the neighborhood. Also, more people have moved in from downtown Boston and have taken advantage of the cheaper housing prices. Many residents have been refurbishing homes and renewing the neighborhood. Citizens have found more people are looking for a hometown feel and appreciate the closeness to downtown. The T-train is a bus ride away and very convienent.
