About the area |
New York Mills is a small town and has many people that have lived there for generations. There are several bars, corner stores, and a fire department that make up the downtown. Most people know each other as there are only about 3,000 people that live there. The municipal government makes most of the decisions for the town unless it is a federal problem. At one time the community exported timber like many small central New York towns. The railway tracks are still there as it was used for transport. Many people have good memories of how the area used to be. There is even a blog dedicated to the town. |
