ABOUT THE AREA

For many years most of the people in Mabscott were employed at the New River Coal field and the city was an industrial and railway shipping center. The main street has not fared well through the industrial development and poor residential construction. However the people here are known for their friendliness and their sense of family. People also feel safe in this community because of the outstanding job done by their police force. The people here largely depend on nearby Beckley for their entertainment and its attractions.
