About the area

The Octagon house, built in the middle of the 19th century by a native New Yorker, is located here and is rare anywhere in the country and is said to be the only surviving antebellum octagonal house in the State of Alabama. It was used as staff headquarters for Union Cavalry during the Civil war. Clayton Municipal airport is located to the West of the city and is open to the public. Its single runway is over 5,000 feet in lenght, in good condition and equipped with runway lighting. Great if you want to fly into the city.
