About the area

Lineville was not settled without its share of bloodshed. When white settlers moved into the Creek lands in the early 1800s, conflict soon arose between the settlers and the Creeks. This led to the Creek Indian or Red Stick War of 1813-1814; a subset of the War of 1812. Land hungry settlers poised to pour into east Alabama as the Indian removals began in the early 1830s. Shortly thereafter settlers obtained land grants resulting from the Treaty of Cussetta. Car lovers love it in Lineville in early November That is when the huge Annual Alcarzar Car Show and Swap meet is held here.
