About the area |
A group of five buildings on US 165 South in the Arkansas Post Museum State park represent the history of the Arkansas Grand Prairie and the Delta. Two of the structures, the 1877 Refeld-Hinman Log House and the 1933 Carnes-Bonner Playhouse were originally on the Grand Prairie. The other structures are the Main House, the Pioneer kitchen and the more recently built Peterson Building where you can find exhibits ranging from prehistoric Native American artifacts to a reconstructed general store from the era of
the Great Depression. The Arkansas Post National Memorial park contains the Arkansas Post battlefield. Remnants of the Confederate trenches still remain in the park. The park museum has exhibits which interpret the battle and other aspects of Arkansas Post's history
