About the area
Not many streets still have brick pavement and a courthouse with a clock-tower which marks the hours with its bell as does Warren in its courthouse square. Settlers began drifting to Warren from a settlement about six miles north of modern day Warren around 1825. When a courthouse was built in Warren as the county seat around 1842, the town was established but not incorporated until about nine years later. There are two museums in Warren; the Bradley County Veterans museum and the Bradley County Historical museum. The Veterans' museum has an awesome display of over 2,300 photos of Bradley County Veterans on the walls as well as oral histories on tape and written reminiscences of veterans. The museum is located in the American Legion building. The oldest building in Bradley County, the Dr. John Wilson Martin House circa 1850, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, now houses the Bradley County Historical museum. The museum displays many artifacts and items related to early life in the county. In Warren City park you can find an old steam locomotive which is in the process of being restored. It was built around 1907 in Guanajunto, Mexico for the Morelia and Tacambaro railroad. Later sold to the Southern Lumber company and ran on the logging rail for a long time.
