Paris District Court is the district court for the Northern District of Logan county and handles traffic and other civil infractions from throughout that section of the county.
About the area
The Court Appointed Special Advocate Association of the Tri-Peaks Kidz Freedom Fest is held annually in Paris and celebrates Independence day prior to the fireworks display. The Coal Miners' memorial and museum has displays depicting the history of coal mining in Paris from the late 1880’s when coal was the primary driver of the economy until the mines were shut down in the mid 1950’s. There is a functioning blacksmith shop in the museum with period tools and artifacts. To pay homage to those who were involved in the local coal industry, the names of the workers, owners and operators of the coal mines are displayed on plaques set into stone in the front courtyard of the museum surrounding the life size bronze statue of a miner with his shovel, bucket and carbide light.
