The Arkansas Municipal Auditorium is a part of the Arkansas Municipal building which is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places. At the time it was built, between 1927-1930, as a building to also house the city hall, jail and fire station it was the place for dance recitals, piano recitals, students' guitar performances, theater productions by a local group, school productions and even fashion shows for the ladies held by the Chamber of Commerce. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Acuff, George Jones, Floyd Cramer and Roy Orbison were among the stars who performed here in the in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. Now the auditorium is being restored to operate as a state-of-the-art, community-accessible, medium-sized visual and performing arts center.
